The Margate Hoy situated on opposite The Turner Galley next to Margate Harbor, with views of the full sweep of the Margate sands is a recently refurbished, modern pub and restaurant offering a superb range of real ales and wines.
The restaurant menu while featuring seafood and fish dishes also offers steaks, a children’s menu and snacks while on Sundays a Traditional Roast.
Our head chef Thom Sommers and his team of chefs, Saddek, Lee and Darren are using only the finest ingredients sourced locally to produce the best fresh food we can. The Hoy is on the sea front side of the Old Town, a thriving bustle of small shops, art galleries, antique and brick-a-back shops, museums and market stalls. Stop for a few moments with us for refreshment.
What is a Hoy?
A hoy was a small sloop-rigged coasting ship or heavy barge used for freight.
In the eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries, English hoys plied a trade between London and the north Kent coast that enabled middle class Londoners to escape the city for the more rural air of Margate.
